THE LEADING NETWORK OF LABORATORIES IN ANALYTICAL CONTROLS FOR WWTP
We respond to the analytical needs of the sector
Process control requires a reliable and fast analysis that allows us to obtain information and indicators of its performance. Hence the commitment of Eurofins Environment Testing Spain laboratories to customer needs. Results available in real time 24/7 to control the process of your wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and connection service of our database with customer programs for data mining.
The laboratories that make up the Eurofins Environment Testing Spain network are accredited by the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard for analytical controls in WWTP. We can respond to the analytical needs of water treatment plants, sludge, biogas, atmosphere and noise controls.
Types of analytical controls in WWTP:
Our laboratories perform the following sampling and analytical controls at WWTPs:
Parameters analyzed
These are the types of analytical controls we perform at the WWTP:
Water analysis (inlet, process and outlet):
- Main physical-chemical control parameters: BOD, COD, ammonium, nitrates, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, suspended solids and volatile suspended solids.
Microbiology: classical microbiological analysis, virus detection (SARS-CoV) and detection of bacteria involved in bulking or foaming processes and denitrification processes. - Analysis of priority and preferential substances and emerging contaminants including drugs and pharmaceuticals.
- Control of reclaimed water according to Royal Decree 1085/2024.
- Microplastics analysis.
Sludge analysis:
- Analysis of physical-chemical parameters.
- Microscopic analysis of active sludge and obtaining of bioindication indexes, abundance of filamentous organisms and diagnosis of “process pathologies” (pin point flock, foaming, bulking, etc.).
- Heavy metal analysis.
- Analysis of sludge for agricultural use.
Biogas analysis:
- Biogas composition control: In situ measurements of main gases: methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2), hydrogen sulfide (H2S), hydrogen (H2) and CO (carbon monoxide).
- Analysis of major gases, impurities and other minority components: ammonia (NH3), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), adsorbable organic halogens (AOX), siloxanes, organic sulfur compounds, etc.) in Tedlar bags or other supports.
- Determination of physical or calorific properties to establish the quality of the gas with a view to its utilization.
Atmosphere control:
- Gas monitoring: hydrogen sulfide (H2S), ammonia (NH3), methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2).
- Monitoring of volatile organic compounds.
- Particulate matter.
- Monitoring of bacteria and biological agents.
- Temperature and humidity measurement.
- Atmospheric pressure monitoring.
Noise analysis:
- Measurement of sound pressure levels.
- Noise frequency analysis.
- Measurements in different areas (high noise areas, office work areas and external perimeter).
- Compliance with regulations and standards.
- Corrective and preventive actions.
- Continuous monitoring.
Equipment
Eurofins Environment Testing Spain laboratories have the most advanced, precise and sensitive facilities, equipment and analytical techniques for the performance of analytical controls of WWTP. Among the equipment used are the following:
Chromatographs:
- Gas chromatographs, gas-mass chromatographs, liquid-mass chromatographs, ion chromatographs, etc.
Inductive plasma spectrophotometers (ICP):
Analysis of chemical elements.
Atomic fluorescence:
Detection and quantification of chemical elements.
Atomic absorption:
Determination of the concentration of metallic elements.
AOX, TOC and PCR Analyzers:
Analyzers for Halogenated Organic Compounds, Total Organic Carbon and Polymerase Chain Reaction.
Multiparameter probes:
Simultaneous measurement of multiple physical and chemical parameters, such as water quality, in aquatic environments.
Automatic samplers:
Standard and refrigerated automatic samplers.
PCR:
Technique used for microbiological analysis.
Indoor and outdoor air quality sampling:
Portable pumps and filters for indoor and outdoor air quality sampling at WWTPs.
Isokinetic trains:
Sampling in stationary emission sources.
FID (flame ionization detector):
- Measurement of volatile organic compounds as total organic carbon.
- Independent measurement of methane and non-methane volatile organic compounds.
Continuous analyzers:
- Stationary emission sources. Determination of CO, NOx, SO2, O2 and CO2 (for use in WWTPs that incinerate sludge) and TOC and CH4.
Passive monitor:
Ambient air immission control.
Adsorbent tubes:
Active sampling of ambient air immission.
Bubblers:
Active sampling of ambient air immission.
Why choose us?
Sampling and on-site analysis
We perform sampling of water (point and composite), sludge, atmospheric and biogas.
We perform “in situ” measurements that include the determination of parameters that, due to their characteristics or instability, must be measured immediately or it is advisable to measure them at your facilities: pH, conductivity, turbidity, flow rate…
